“We chose Passive House because of Abby and Angie—we felt like we could trust them.”
For us, energy efficiency was the number one priority. We knew the cost of energy isn’t going down, so we wanted to invest in that upfront and do it right. This house was also about the future—everything is on one level, it’s comfortable, practical, and built so we can stay here as long as possible.
The biggest difference living here is comfort. There are no drafts, no temperature changes when you walk by the windows, and it’s extremely quiet. We’ve had major storms and ice storms, and inside you wouldn’t even know what was happening outside—you’re just in your little nest here.
We lose power often where we live, but the house holds its temperature so well that we don’t have to worry. Even during extreme heat, without air conditioning, the house stayed comfortable.
Our energy costs are dramatically lower than before, but more than that, the house just feels good. Everyone who stays here says they sleep incredibly well.
From the build itself to living in the home now, the experience was about trust, communication, and comfort—and that’s made all the difference.

“I don’t understand why everyone doesn’t build to this standard.”
What really sold us was seeing the house in January. It was minus 15 to minus 20, nobody had been in it for three weeks, and the house was still sitting at about 15 or 16 degrees. Seeing that—the way the passive design actually worked—just made sense.
We were already planning to move and wanted a single-level home, so if we were going to build, this felt like the right way to do it. Living here now, the house stays warm in the winter and cooler in the summer. A lot of times we actually turn the heat off because it gets too warm. We rarely use air conditioning, and the quietness really stands out—you don’t hear much from outside at all.
From a cost perspective, it was basically the same as building a traditional house at the time, but the efficiency is far better. Everything here is electric, and we only have one bill. In the winter it’s around $250 a month, and in the summer closer to $125—and that includes the spa. Before, we were paying thousands a year in propane alone.
There were some growing pains during construction since they were still fairly new, but the overall concept just works. Traditional houses are so inefficient by comparison. We have two heaters and only one ever comes on.
At the end of the day, the house is comfortable, quiet, efficient, and practical. It just works—and once you live in it, it’s hard to imagine building any other way.

“It feels like a little cocoon for our family.”
We built this home because the environment mattered most to us. We wanted a much smaller footprint and a way of building that didn’t damage the landscape or create unnecessary waste. Traditional construction just didn’t feel right, and Passive House felt like the responsible choice.
From the beginning, working with Quantum felt natural and straightforward. Abby and Angie were local, community-focused, and genuinely committed to doing things the right way. It never felt like a sales pitch. If something came up, it was handled fairly and openly, and there was always an ongoing conversation.
The build process was surprisingly efficient. Seeing the panels come together so quickly, and being enclosed early, gave us real confidence. Even during winter storms and power outages, the house holds its heat and stays comfortable.
Living here, the difference is immediate. The house is incredibly quiet, consistent from room to room, and the air feels clean. There’s very little dust, and the comfort is something you notice every day. We don’t worry about heating, freezing pipes, or rushing up in bad weather—the house is always ready.
In the end, this home just works. It’s comfortable, environmentally responsible, and feels exactly right for how we wanted to live.

“Good for us and good for the earth.”
We chose Quantum Passivhaus because integrity is important to us. We weren’t just building a house, we were building a way of life, and a connection with the earth.
From the beginning, our relationship with Quantum Passivhaus felt different. To them, we weren’t just another sales project. They genuinely cared about what they were building, and who they were building it for.
Things didn’t always go as planned in construction, but we always felt they had our backs. Whether resourcing alternate materials, working with subcontractors, or taking on more work, the whole team was talented and friendly.
We’ve lived in the house over 7 years now and still appreciate the comfort it offers—consistent temperatures from room to room, clean, fresh air, and no cold floors or drafts. During an ice storm, we went 11 days without power and barely lost any heat. The house just works, and our energy costs are much lower than what we were used to.
We feel very fortunate to have this beautiful home. It’s good for us, good for the earth, and good for our pocketbook. We highly recommend this company.
